Sozopol. General information

Sozopol is somewhat similar to Nessebar, there are ancient fortress walls, cobblestones, a large marina for yachts and small boats. The city has a rich history that stretches for thousands of years. I will only note one interesting fact. In the 5th century BC, the city erected a huge statue of Apollo, 13 m high. But in 72 BC, the Roman general proconsul Lucullus captured the city and placed this statue on the Capitol in Rome. Subsequently, the statue was transported after the adoption of Christianity in the Roman Empire.
