Varna Photos: The Best Views of the City and Coast of Bulgaria
Varna City – Best Locations for Photos
Varna photo. Panoramic platform Galata
The panoramic viewpoint “Galata” is located about 2 km from the center of Varna . To get there, you need to cross the Asparuhov Bridge to the other side of the Varna Bay. This is one of the few places where you can go and enjoy not only the beauty of the city, but also escape from the bustle of the big city. The view is one of the most beautiful places in the city, and some consider it the best.
At any time of day or night, young and old residents gather here to enjoy the endless beauty of the seaside city. For better visibility of the panorama, benches and binoculars are installed on the site itself. Very often on hot summer days, young people spread blankets on the grass around the panorama to spend hours enjoying the peace and comfort that this magnetic place has to offer.
Sea Garden or Seaside Park of Varna
After the liberation, in 1881, the mayor Mikhail Koloni was the first to raise the issue of creating a city garden (behind the Theatre) and a modern seaside park. The work of M. Koloni and his co-authors quickly yielded results – the area of the garden soon reached 26 acres, the first 130 trees were planted, and the paths were repaired.
The Sea Garden is forever linked with the name of Anton Novak. At the request of the Varna Municipality, in 1894 K. Shkorpil invited a park builder to Varna who specialized in the palaces of Schönborn and Belvedere in Vienna. He enthusiastically set to work and soon the slaughterhouse and the dump were moved, the shore was cleared, and the landscaping of the area beyond the ravine next to the cemetery began. The work of harvesting the appropriate woody vegetation was enormous. Valuable species from Varna, Longos and Strandzha, the Mediterranean and Constantinople were transported in carts. The Sea Garden soon gained fame as the most beautiful park in the Balkans.
The Sea Garden is one of the symbols of Varna. It has its beautiful and cool streets along the city’s promenade. The characteristic features of the Sea Garden are the well-kept garden areas, quiet alleys, beautiful and diverse natural vegetation and many cultural monuments located on its territory. The impressive central entrance to the Sea Garden in the form of columns was built in 1939 according to the design of the then chief architect Georgi Popov.
Varna Festival and Congress Centre
The Varna Festival and Congress Centre was built in 1986, designed by architect Kosyo Hristov. The FCC building with its 80,000 cubic meters, almost half of which is underground, with its clean lines and modern silhouette, looks impressive and elegant at the same time and today is one of the architectural symbols of Varna. Since its establishment, the FCC has established itself as a centre for the most prestigious events in the arts and culture. In addition to artistic events and festivals, scientific meetings and seminars are also held here, and various companies celebrate their annual holidays.
FCC – Varna has 11 multifunctional halls with a capacity of 50 to 1000 seats, a restaurant, cafe-bars and summer terraces, located under one roof on an area of 4000 square meters on the busiest street of Varna – on Largo in front of the central entrance to the Sea Garden and only 50 meters from the embankment.
The halls of the center host various events every day: film screenings, concerts, theater tours, literary evenings, children’s matinees and performances, art exhibitions, various exhibitions, international and industry congresses, conferences, seminars, company presentations, trainings, republican and citywide holidays, school holidays and corporate events. All of them create the image of the multifunctional complex as a center of events.
