The first settlement was founded on the current site of Sveti Vlas back in the 2nd century AD. In the 14th century, the settlement was renamed Sveti Vlas in honor of Saint Blaise.
General information
The town has a permanent population of just over 4,000 people and a school. The resort of Sveti Vlas is sometimes called the Bulgarian Saint-Tropez.
The proximity to the above-mentioned mountain and the sea causes the air waves to change direction three to four times a day, which creates a unique microclimate of a mixture of mountain and sea air, which helps treat respiratory diseases.
It is difficult to call Sveti Vlas a quiet resort, sometimes powerful music can be heard from afar, the closer to the sea, the more people there are. But the city is much quieter than Sunny Beach.
Location
The resort town of Sveti Vlas is located in Bulgaria, adjacent to Sunny Beach from the north, and is located at the foot of the southern slope of the Roga Mountain of Stara Planina.
Therefore, the town is protected from the northern winds. Sveti Vlas stretches from west to east for more than 5 kilometers.
How to get there?
The nearest airports are in Burgas – 33 km and in Varna – 100 km. Several times a day there are buses from Burgas to Sveti Vlas. Sveti Vlas is connected by direct bus service to Sunny Beach and Nessebar. There are bus stops throughout the city.
There is a bus schedule, but it is only valid during the holiday season; in winter there are much fewer routes.
Beach
The beach in Sveti Vlas is sandy, with very fine and soft sand. Normal entrance to the sea, sandy bottom, not deep right away, but you don’t have to walk 100 meters to get to the depth.
There are lifeguards on the beach, and there is also a medical team. As on other beaches, you can take advantage of the opportunity to rent umbrellas, sun loungers and water attractions.
In addition to the area with paid umbrellas, there is also an area for free use of the beach.

Prices on the beach: umbrella – 4 euros, sun lounger – 4 euros. It should be noted that the beaches in Sveti Vlas have been awarded the Blue Flag.
Accommodation
Accommodation prices start from twenty-nine euros per night for a double room when renting for a week. This is the price of a room in a guest house and not very close to the sea. The city has hotels from 1 to 5 stars. The best hotel according to reviews is Onyx Beach Residence with a rating of 9.5. But the price per night in this 4-star hotel is 189 euros.
We will also add that in Sveti Vlas there is currently a large supply of real estate for sale. But the prices are significantly higher than in the same Sunny Beach. So the prices start from 20,000 euros for a 1-room apartment and end with prices up to 50,000 euros for a 3-room apartment. You can find apartments even cheaper, but there will certainly be some problems there.
Nutrition
There is a large selection of catering establishments in Sveti Vlas. You can sit in one of the bars on the embankment near the pier.
There are grocery stores “Mercury” and “Diamant” in the city itself near the exit from the city, as well as many small shops scattered around the city, there are also thematic ones like a wine store.
If you want to buy products at the lowest prices, then the Lidl store is at your service, located at the entrance to Sunny Beach from Varna. It is always crowded there.
What to see in Sveti Vlas?
The Church of St. Blaise, which is located on the site of an ancient monastery of the same name, which was destroyed in the 17th century. In 2010, in the presence of a large number of people, the temple was consecrated by Metropolitan Ioannik of Sliven together with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. It is considered to be one of the best-kept churches in Bulgaria.
Nearby is the Arena amphitheater, which hosts more than 100 historical performances a year. Concerts and other entertainment events are also held here, most of them free. The schedule of events is posted at the entrance.
Dinevi Yacht Marina.
This is the center of the resort and the main attraction of Sveti Vlas. The marina with its clubs and restaurants has become famous among the wealthier people in Bulgaria, and expensive cars such as Ferraris and Porsches can often be seen here. You can rent a luxury yacht here. For example, renting a motor yacht for 8 hours will cost 8,000 euros.
Also at a distance of 10 km is the ancient town of Nessebar, included by UNESCO in its list of World Heritage Sites.
There are two large water parks nearby. Action Water Park is 8 km away and Nessebar Water Park is 15 km away.
Fans of water activities will love Paradise Nessebar Water Park in Ravda and Action in Sunny Beach. Getting to the water parks is quite easy: free minibuses stop at public transport stops every 10-15 minutes.
Aquaparadise is more suitable for teenagers and adults, Action attracts families with small children – there are more children’s slides and even a small zoo.
Another small water park, Pirates of the Caribbean, is located next to the Kotva Hotel. This is the Stadium stop of any bus that goes to Old Nessebar or Burgas. The water park with a real pirate schooner can be considered the most budget-friendly due to the low cost of the ticket.
Also on Tsar Simeon Street, you can buy an excursion at the excursion bureaus.
