Sunny Beach expects 20% increase in tourist numbers

Salaries in the tourism sector will be increased by about 20% at all levels this year. This was announced in Sunny Beach by Acting Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev. He is on a working visit to the resort, where he met with representatives of the tourism industry to discuss problems before the start of the summer season.
“This is a good sign for the labor market in Bulgaria, because tourism is fighting for workers. The best workers, the most desirable workers in tourism are Bulgarians. Workers from third countries are sought, because there is a labor shortage. But I say again: the good news is that next year, salaries in the industry will increase by about 20%. This is important, because seasonal work is something that deserves enough attention,” Miloshev commented.
The acting Minister of Tourism also commented on the issue of visas for workers from third countries, as well as other problems in the industry.
“This meeting will not solve the visa problem in any way. Or rather, I can tell you what questions were asked at the meeting in Sunny Beach. I can group them in the following order. Firstly, there is a huge desire and need in the industry for the capacity of our consulates, especially in Central Asia, where workers from third countries are recruited for the needs of the tourism sector, in order to increase their capacity. We have had conversations in this direction, and I believe that this is achievable.
The second important event is the Law on Amendments and Supplements for Foreigners in Bulgaria. There is currently a debate on this topic in the National Assembly. I expect good news, and it will be the best signal from the People’s Representation for the industry if this law is adopted.
The third problem is the Resolution on water rescue measures adopted by the Council of Ministers. This regulation imposes many requirements for which the industry is not yet ready. Their request is to postpone this action if possible,” Miloshev said.
Earlier today in Burgas, when asked where he spends his summer holidays, the acting Minister of Tourism said: “In Bulgaria! Our Black Sea region is an infinitely good place, a favorite one, and don’t expect any other answer from me!”
