Sunny Beach, Bulgaria: Life Off-Season 2023 – Accommodation and Services Prices
Hello everyone. I wonder if the shops and cafes are open in the off-season and in general, is there life in Sunny Beach in the off-season?
The bustling resort of Sunny Beach, a sprawling beach resort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, attracts young travelers from around the world with its sand dunes, water sports and vibrant life. But that’s all in the summer. What about the winter?
Walking tour of the center of Sunny Beach
Today is 17 degrees Celsius. Let’s start our walk around Sunny Beach from the resort center. Anyone who has been to Sunny Beach probably knows these places. The central pedestrian street of Sunny Beach.
Marina at Sunny Beach
The favorite place for walks in winter and summer is the pier. This is probably the most crowded place in winter in Sunny Beach. From the beach of Sunny Beach there is a view of Sveti Vlas.
Moving away from the pier, you can wander through the narrow streets of the resort.
The bus station operates in winter. As you can see, the number of routes is reduced, but buses to Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia and other cities run regularly. City buses also operate on several routes: to Nessebar, Sveti Vlas, Ravda. Taxis operate.
You only have to say kitty, kitty, and cats will start appearing out of nowhere. If Sunny Beach had an alternative name, it would be “Cat Beach”. This time I prepared for my trip to Sunny Beach and took cat food with me. Unexpectedly, seagulls joined the cats and tasted the cat food. Apparently, they liked it.
There is a small grocery supermarket nearby and here is another one. But here is a new fast food place, it was not there that winter.
Moving away from the sea and the pier in the south-west direction we came across a shop – Janet. But this is not the huge Janet, which is located on the road Sunny Beach – Burgas.
What are the prices for food in Sunny Beach?
And at the Mladost store we saw a lot of people, comparable to those at the pier in the center of the resort.
It was interesting to look at the range of goods and prices. To my surprise, we saw a pretty decent range and normal prices, some were more expensive, and some were cheaper than in other stores. There were even unique goods that are not available in other stores.
Even now we have seen residential complexes under construction or ready for delivery, asphalt laying and other construction work.
Some complexes and their surrounding areas are equipped with surveillance cameras.
Rental prices in Sunny Beach in 2023
Over the past year, there have been big changes in housing prices in Sunny Beach. In Sunny Beach, renting a 1-room apartment in the off-season will cost an average of 360 euros (250 euros last year) per month.
But there are very few rental offers, just one page. We found an option for 292 euros per month. But as you can see, the payment here is only for the whole year.
The situation is the same with 2-room apartments: there is little supply and everything has become more expensive. Such options are offered for 650 (290 euros last year). They promise 150 meters to the sea.
Sunny Beach Property Prices in 2023
The best time to buy an apartment in Sunny Beach is winter. Although prices have almost doubled over the past year! But there are still many offers. A 1-room apartment can be bought for 20,000 euros (last year prices started at 11,000 euros). This is an option in the resort itself, and not in a field a few kilometers from the sea.
In the field, i.e. far from the sea, you can still buy an apartment, but at the price of last year at the resort. For example, such an apartment for 13,500 euros. And a 2-room apartment costs 35,500 euros (last year’s price was 22,500 euros). But these are the minimum prices, the average is around 60,000 euros.
What happened in Sunny Beach?
Last year, 99% of the establishments and shops in the center of Sunny Beach did not work in winter, almost everything was closed. It was a great rarity to meet people. On the streets, cats were more common than people.
This time, for the first time, we saw that life in Sunny Beach did not stop in winter. This year, Ukrainians literally breathed life into Sunny Beach in the off-season. You can meet people and not only in the center, you can see movement. Many shops, cafes, pharmacies, offices are open…
Now you can live normally in Sunny Beach in winter, almost everything you need works.
