Sharp increase in number of French tourists in Varna

The number of tourists from France visiting Varna has increased significantly in recent years, said Irina Ugrinska, chief expert for marketing, advertising and analysis at the Varna Tourism Authority. This statement was made after Varna’s participation in the International Tourism Fair IFTM Top Resa, held in Paris from September 17 to 19.
According to the municipal administration, this year about 10 thousand French people chose Varna for their summer vacation, which is 20% more than last year. French tourists stay in the sea capital longer than others, spending an average of 6 days here, while other nationalities vacation for 4-5 days. According to Ugrinskaya, this figure underlines the need to further attract tourists from France.
At the exhibition in Paris, Varna was advertised as a resort with a rich historical heritage and diverse tourist offers. French tourists are primarily attracted by cultural tourism and the possibility of including visits to landmarks in their travels, Ugrinska added.
During the summer season, many French tourists contacted the Tourist Information Centre for information about the cultural and historical sites of Varna, which indicates their preparedness and high interest in the local culture.
The most popular attraction among French tourists was the Golden Treasure of the Varna Eneolithic Necropolis. It was the advertising materials for this object that were the first to be distributed at the exhibition in Paris. Other popular places include Pobiti Kamani, Aladzha Monastery and the Roman Baths.
Ugrinska also noted that many young French people have shown interest in summer internships in Varna. This interest is especially noticeable among schoolchildren and students studying tourism and related specialties.
