Old Nessebar in Bulgaria
Do you want to know which city in Bulgaria is the oldest? Nessebar is one of the most ancient cities on the Black Sea coast. It was founded more than 5 thousand years ago.
The city consists of two parts – the Old and the New Town.

I recommend visiting the old town of Nessebar for lovers of excursions and museums.
The old part of the city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List: on the site where Nessebar is located, there once stood the Thracian settlement of Mesembria – the remains of the fortress walls and towers have survived to this day.
Nessebar is located 3 km from the resort of Sunny Beach and 17 km from the city of Burgas.

The cultural heritage of old Nesebar is preserved in five museum expositions. In the old part of Nesebar there were about 42 churches, less than half of which were discovered by archaeologists and preserved, and only one is operational. Others, better preserved, were converted into art galleries. The length of the isthmus connecting the old part of Nesebar with the new is about 400 meters.

In the middle of the isthmus is the old mill of the town of Nessebar, which does not function as such, but is only a landmark and a calling card of the town of Nessebar. There is also a small picturesque sandy beach in Nessebar at the end of the peninsula.
