Bulgaria ranks fourth in tourist flow to Turkey in 2023

Over the past year, a total of 49.2 million foreign tourists visited Turkey, which is 10.4% more than in 2022. Russia became the leader in the number of guests arriving in Turkey, the share of Russians was 12.8% of all foreigners.

Germany took the second position in terms of tourist flow to the country – 6.19 million tourists, followed by Great Britain – 3.8 million, Bulgaria – 2.89 million and Iran – 2.5 million people, according to statistics from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic.

Istanbul was the most popular destination for international visitors in 2023, with over 17 million travelers visiting last year (35.3% of tourists), followed by Antalya (29.9% of travelers), Edirne (9.58%), Mugla (6.76%) and Artvin (3.72%).

As reported, Turkish authorities expect to increase the flow of tourists to the country to 90 million people by 2028.
